01 / PROJECT SUPPORT

Move the project forward with a clear brief.

Define the work you need across design, selection and handover. Agree the scope and required documents before a quotation.

01 /

Control concept

Translate the intended experience into room, zone and scene logic.

  • Room and lighting-zone schedule
  • Scene and override priorities
  • Presence, daylight and time strategies
02 /

Equipment & interfaces

Resolve the relationship between luminaires, drivers and controls early.

  • Luminaire and driver interface list
  • KNX–DALI gateway function review
  • Grouping, capacity and open issues
03 /

Commissioning brief

Give your installer, commissioning team and client a shared checklist.

  • KNX group-address naming approach
  • Scene-by-scene functional test list
  • Configuration and handover file scope

Enquire about controls planning alone, or include luminaire and control-equipment selection. Tell us what you need ↗

02 / WORKED EXAMPLE

One meeting room. Four defined responses.

A simple control schedule makes the intended behaviour clear to the designer, installer and people using the room.

Light levels, delays and priorities are defined for the room, users and local project requirements. No fixed energy-saving result is implied.

03 / SPACES

Built around the way rooms are used.

For new-build and retrofit projects, start with how people work, stay and move through the space.

01 /

Workplaces

Give work areas, meeting rooms and shared spaces the lighting control they need.

  • Presence detection and time delays
  • Daylight response and dimming zones
  • Meeting, cleaning and after-hours scenes
02 /

Hospitality & homes

Balance intuitive room controls with the needs of building management.

  • Welcome, reading and away scenes
  • Bedside and entrance control points
  • Shading and HVAC interface assessment
03 /

Retail & display

Organise lighting around focal points and the rhythm of the trading day.

  • Separate display and circulation zones
  • Trading, closing and event scenes
  • Dimming matched to luminaires and drivers

04 / TECHNOLOGY

KNX for the room. DALI for the light.

Develop the control plan alongside equipment selection, so driver, gateway and interface issues surface early.

BUILDING & ROOM AUTOMATION

KNX

Coordinate building functions such as lighting, shading and HVAC. Selected actuators, sensors and controllers support room logic, configuration, commissioning and diagnostics.

About KNX ↗
ADDRESSABLE LIGHTING CONTROL

DALI / DALI-2

Address, group and dim lighting, and recall scenes. DALI-2 certification applies to specific products. Colour control, sensor support and feedback depend on the chosen equipment and gateway.

DALI system overview ↗
Check every interface

A selected gateway links KNX and DALI. Tunable white requires compatible DT8 control gear and controllers. BMS requirements, including BACnet interfaces and point mapping, are reviewed separately. Existing luminaires may need changes.

05 / WORKING TOGETHER

Alongside your European project team.

Technical coordination starts with our Guangzhou-based team and your local project team. Set clear responsibilities for the design and the work on site.

Planning & technical coordination

  • Define lighting zones, scenes and user controls
  • Review driver interfaces and gateway functions
  • Agree programming, support and handover scope
  • Arrange English communication and suitable meeting times

Your local installer & project team

  • Provide local requirements, drawings and site conditions
  • Confirm wiring, installation and site-safety responsibilities
  • Check applicable product and project documentation
  • Complete the agreed site tests and acceptance process

For a first enquiry, the location, room type and control objectives are enough. Drawings, equipment schedules and required product documents can follow.

06 / NEXT STEPS

From an early idea to an agreed scope.

You do not need a finished technical specification to start. Share the project context, then work through the details.

Share the brief

Send the location, building use, drawings, lighting schedule and control objectives.

Review the system

Check protocols, drivers, groups, sensors and integration interfaces.

Agree the scope

Define equipment, design files, programming, commissioning and local coordination.

Test & hand over

Verify the agreed scenes and confirm configuration files and operating instructions.

QUESTIONS

Before we
get started.

Can existing PAK luminaires be upgraded?

That depends on the exact luminaire, driver and wiring. Switching, phase-cut dimming, 0–10V and DALI are different interfaces. A retrofit may require a new driver or an additional actuator.

Do I need to choose between KNX and DALI?

Not necessarily. KNX can handle building and room automation while DALI handles addressable lighting. A gateway supporting the required functions can connect them, or a project may use just one system.

Do I need complete drawings for a first enquiry?

No. Start with the country or city, building use, approximate scale and intended controls. If you already have a floor plan, luminaire schedule or equipment models, attach them to your email.

Can I involve my local European installer?

Yes. Start with a shared control intent, interface review and responsibility split. Your installer provides the site context; programming, commissioning support and document deliverables are agreed in writing before work begins.

START YOUR PROJECT REVIEW

What are you
planning to build?

Start with a few lines: where the project is, how the rooms will be used and what the lighting should do. Already have drawings? Email them directly.
