ILLUSTRATIVE / FOR PROJECT DISCUSSION

Meeting room / MR-01

A sample lighting-control brief for a room with a presentation screen, meeting table and daylight perimeter.

Document purpose
Agree intended room behaviour
Proposed approach
KNX inputs and logic with a selected KNX–DALI gateway
Project status
Illustrative; no selected equipment or approved settings

This is a discussion example, not a completed project or installation specification. Equipment models, lighting levels, delays and responsibilities remain to be agreed. Emergency and life-safety systems are outside this example.

01 / Room and zone names

Give every lighting group a clear name.

Use the same room and zone references in drawings, the scene schedule and the final configuration records.

MR-01-Z01

Screen zone

Lighting near the presentation screen. Review its effect on the displayed image and viewing comfort.

MR-01-Z02

Table zone

Lighting for reading and meeting tasks. Agree the required response for work and presentation scenes.

MR-01-Z03

Daylight perimeter

Lighting alongside the window area. Review daylight response and its interaction with manual scene selection.

These labels identify functional zones. They are not DALI addresses, group numbers or KNX group addresses. Final luminaire assignments and addresses belong in the agreed project schedule.

02 / Scene schedule

Four responses to agree.

The everyday scene uses the table and daylight zones; presentation also changes the screen zone. Confirm exactly which groups each scene controls.

Light levels, delays and priorities are defined for the room, users and local project requirements. No fixed energy-saving result is implied.

Priority is a design decision. Agree how manual scene selection interacts with presence and daylight inputs, how cleaning mode ends, and when normal automatic operation resumes. The table does not prescribe an override hierarchy.

03 / Interface review

Resolve the equipment questions.

Record the selected models, evidence and open decisions before treating the brief as ready for implementation.

Luminaires and drivers
Confirm the exact models, dimming interfaces and intended operating range. Identify any existing fittings that need changes.
KNX–DALI gateway
Check support for the required groups, scene commands and feedback. Review device quantities and addressing with the selected equipment.
Sensors and wall controls
Confirm device interfaces, proposed locations, sensing coverage, scene labels and which device provides the room logic.
Colour-temperature control
This example covers brightness control. If tunable white is requested, separately check the required DT8 colour-control support in the drivers, controller and gateway.
Other building systems
Record any BMS, shading or HVAC coordination requested. Agree the supported interface, points and responsibilities separately.
Project documents
The local team confirms applicable site and product requirements. List the equipment documents and installation information needed for its review.

04 / Site tests to agree

Check the room against the brief.

The local project team turns these prompts into a site test plan. Record the outcome, reviewer and any follow-up for each item.

  • Zone identification: confirm that the installed fittings, wall-control labels and zone schedule refer to the same groups.
  • Everyday work: observe the agreed response to presence and daylight, including sensor coverage and the room's working conditions.
  • Presentation: select the scene and review the screen and table zones with the actual display in use.
  • Cleaning: confirm who can select the scene, which groups respond and how the room leaves that mode.
  • Unoccupied: check the agreed vacancy delay, manual override and return-to-use behaviour.
  • Transitions and exceptions: review scene changes and define the required response after supply or communication interruptions in the project test plan.

Acceptance criteria and testing methods are set for the project. This checklist does not define electrical testing or safety procedures.

05 / Handover checklist

Leave a clear record.

Agree which final files are included, who owns them and how the installer and owner will receive them.

  • Final room, zone and scene schedule with agreed settings and revision identification.
  • Equipment list, interface decisions and the relevant manufacturer documentation.
  • KNX group-address and DALI addressing/group records for the implemented system.
  • Configuration or project-file backups included in the agreed support scope.
  • Completed functional test record, unresolved issues and responsible contacts.
  • Room operating notes, maintenance contacts and arrangements for future changes.
